Human Immunodeficient Virus

The definition of HIV is given in the web citation below. The symbiotic control application is indicated in the PNAS publication immediately below (Chang, et al., 2003). It involves expression of a receptor on the Lactobacillus jensenii bacterium to intercept the HIV virus and prevent infection. Treating the vaginal track with this recombinant organism would protect against sexually transmitted HIV.
